I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where I graduated from Westside (formerly Forrest) High School and was an active member of Oak Crest Methodist Church. My father spent 35 years with the Department of the Navy, starting as a mechanic at NAS Cecil Field and retiring as comptroller for the NAS Jacksonville Public Works Division. My mother devoted decades to teaching young children in Clay and Duval County public schools, as well as overseas in Department of Defense schools. For part of my childhood, we lived at the naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (GTMO), which gave me an early glimpse into military life and a broader perspective on the world.

In 1998, I earned my Environmental Engineering degree from the University of Florida and moved to New York City to serve as a Remediation Project Manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, focusing on Superfund and hazardous waste sites. A few years later, I joined American International Group’s complex tort unit, handling personal injury claims related to mold, lead paint, asbestos, and other chemicals. From there, I worked at Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein LLP while completing evening law school, which paved the way for my in-house legal roles helping multinational companies with mergers, licensing, and intellectual property litigation—including time living and working in Canada and Japan. Most recently, I led the Intellectual Property Team at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), bringing together engineers, scientists, and business managers to make sure government-funded technology reached the public. Through these diverse experiences, I learned the importance of standing up for people and ensuring they receive fair treatment—a commitment I now bring to my practice representing plaintiffs.
